Three cousins visit the Theatre

Created by Ann 5 years ago
On my 19th birthday,  in February 1961 our Auntie Kay, who was married to Kenneth Keeble, invited me to supper and the theatre. When I arrived at her cottage in Farmer Street, North Kensington, I was surprised to find that she and Uncle Ken would not be accompanying me , but that Mervyn, not quite 17 and Bill, not quite 18, would be my escorts. We ate chicken salad plus dessert and a taxi took us to see  "Fings Ain't Wot They Used to  Be" in the West End. Ever the gentleman, even at that young age, Mervyn presented me with a box of chocolates in the cab and later bought me a theatre programme. I'm sure we might all have chosen to spend our time with other friends but we had a lovely evening together and it was a birthday to remember when many are forgotten. Ann
