Thank you for sending your memories of Mervyn - I do indeed find it most interesting! I knew he was an oboe player, but that’s about the extent of my knowledge of his life. I especially enjoyed the “green tree” anecdote… delightful. I didn’t know Mervyn very well, and we weren’t in touch for many years now, but in the early 2000s he did me the enormous kindness of copying some tapes of my husband’s conducting (Georg Tintner) from 78s owned by the Thompson family.
