Memories by Maggie Hobbs

Mervyn was a colleague of mine over 30 years ago; we both worked at Bartholomew School in Enysham. He was the Head of Music and I was a very new and young Art teacher.... 3rd in the department of 3! He was very welcoming and was always there for a good chat or to give advice. Mervyn also was very generous and kind to me. When my husband gained a new job in the Midlands, Mervyn immediately offered me his spare room until I found a place to live for the rest of the academic year. I am so grateful for his thoughtful actions. He never complained.... even though I must have driven him nuts sometimes, you can imagine what art teachers are like!!
We exchanged Christmas cards and updated our news over many years.
